Charlie – 8 year old female Lab/Springer Spaniel mix – Charlie is the total package if you are looking for a smart, dog who enjoys a walk but also knows how to relax.  She’s house trained, not destructive, loves to play with her toys and take walks, and then take a nap on the bed, or snuggle with her family.  While she is approaching her golden years on paper Charlie is an “active” senior. Friendly, enthusiastic and she will kiss your face when you walk into the house and then show off her best tricks, like roll over! The tricky thing in finding Charlie her perfect home is she has been an only pet her entire life and she seems to prefer to stay that way. While she can be polite out in public sometimes other dogs just stare at her or move really, really fast and she just has to bark at them! Charlie has had canine friends in the past and even went to doggy daycare to play with one or two dogs at a time but it takes time for her to get to know other dogs (she is a little socially awkward), and it is hard to predict who she will be friends with and who she thinks is fun to chase, so life as an only child seems best for Charlie-girl. Charlie requires a fenced yard, as she does like to sniff and enjoy the great outdoors in peace, and she tried city-living and it was not for her, so a quiet suburban or rural setting will be best for her. Charlie has not lived with children and while she is a sweet dog, we did mention she is enthusiastic so older children may be best for her. Placing Charlie is hard for her family who love her, but realize their life is not the life she needs anymore.
