Hector – Adopted!

  • Shih Tzu,
  • male,
  • 13 years,
  • 15 lbs.

Hector is a very mellow fellow! He occasionally plays with his toys, and enjoys sniffing around the yard when his foster mom is outside. He will take short walks, but is slow and prefers to just walk to the mailbox or oversee the gardening and chores. Hector rides well in the car, has been on a boat, and will even sit as a passenger in a bike basket! However, his favorite pastime is napping and cuddling with his people. He gives slow chase to the cats, but is starting to learn that they are not interested in playing, and should just leave them be! He has only met a few other dogs, and seems to mostly act with indifference after the initial meet and sniff. However at an adoption clinic, he was content to share the water bowl with his new friend Kara, and let her have his blanket like a true gentleman! He is nearly 100% house trained, and with consistent reinforcement in his new home, this can only improve. Hector almost never barks, has never gotten into garbage or chewed. He loves everyone of all ages from 8 – 88, and accepts petting and loves to sit in your lap and receive attention. He currently sleeps on his dog bed in his foster’s room, and sleeps through the night. However, he most likely would love to curl up in bed with his new owners if they invited him to! He does love to cuddle on the couch in the evening and have his belly rubbed, while his foster mom watches TV. He will sit by the table at mealtime, but never jumps or “begs” for food. In general he is loving and very easy to care for. We are looking for a home without young children for this mature gentleman.
