Melanie is a sweet, soulful girl who enjoys hugs, kisses and a lot of companionship.  She was a stray from Darlington, SC who still sees the world as filled with new experiences.  Melanie is initially shy and submissive, however, she is showing herself to be a resilient girl and is meeting each adventure.  When Melanie is feeling comfortable, she is all puppy and still needs to learn some manners but responds quickly to training with love and treats.  She had surgery recently to remove her tail due to an injury but is now a healthy and active girl.  Melanie will be best suited to living in a home with older children as she sometimes startles easily.  She has rarely been without furry companions and, with slow introductions and the right personality, would be best suited to living in a home with another dog and has lived with a dog-savvy cat. Melanie is very curious about her world and loves her zoomies, so a secure fence will be best (she’s perfected a belly-crawl under a fence).
