Sherlock

  • Hound/pointer mix,
  • male,
  • 1 year.

Sherlock is the type of dog that just melts into your hands when you pet him, he is happy, wiggly and oh so full of fun. He is still a puppy at heart, although as long as he gets his time to run and play he settles nicely inside. He particularly enjoys snuggling under the covers to sleep. Sherlock lives with two dogs and does well with them, and likes to play, but he does not like to share special treats (like human food) and living in a home with children is making it hard to manage, so he is in need of a new home and new canine friends. Sherlock thinks you should greet new dogs by barking at them, so he needs to go slow meeting new dogs, but usually by the end of the walk he’s feeling okay and ready to play. Patient dogs may be the best match for him, he can be kind of clueless making friends, probably because he just hasn’t met that many dogs. Sherlock is house trained, invisible fence trained, and has good house manners and knows the basics like sit, shake and is very good at taking treats. He was crate trained as a puppy but now is allowed loose in the house. Sometimes he still likes to go into his crate for naps though. Sherlock has lived with cats but he does think they can be fun to chase when they run, so a dog-savvy cat or no cats may be best for him.
