Baxter is a sweet, loving, and smart 3.5 year-old Border Collie mix (he’s from Dubai and mixed with “desert dog”). He is energetic and loves to run, but he is also calm indoors and likes to lie near his family. He is crate trained (though is used to spending most of his time out of the crate) and house trained and has had obedience and behavior training. Baxter is best in a rural or suburban environment; he doesn’t like the crowds and faster pace of a city. He is best in a home without other pets and with older children, 12 and up, and would do well in a home where his breed and anxieties are understood, and where his training could continue. He would also be best in a home with a fenced-in yard — he loves to run in big open spaces. Baxter can be reactive when on a leash outdoors when he sees larger dogs or people on skateboards, or other things that intimidate him; he can be calmed with positive reinforcement and would benefit from continued training so that he gains confidence. Baxter loves to “swim” (he sits or lies in the water), he loves to give “paw” and sit and he is very eager to learn and please. He loves to roll in the grass and dirt, and he loves eggs so much that he will come running from any room in the house when he hears one being cracked.
Baxter is a loyal, loving dog who is loved by everyone who meets him, and will be a wonderful pet for the right family who can continue his training. If you are interested in meeting him please fill out an application through Peppertree Rescue and it will be sent to his family.
