Velma’s owner passed away and she found herself in a shelter because there was no one who could take her in. Having led a darn happy life, the shelter environment was very hard on her and it was decided that rescue would be the best option for her. She appears to be a terrier/whippet mix, Learn More >
Sake is a sweet girl with a lot of love. She came to us with some pretty severe allergies and ear infections which caused a LOT of hair loss and discomfort. Since we’ve been treating her she’s grown back so much of her hair and she keeps growing back more on a daily basis. Learn More >
Dollar is a happy, intelligent, and energetic boy who is learning the routine of being part of a family. Christopher came to us with his brother, Wags McGee, as an owner surrender because prior owners were unable to care for them. While we initially believed that they were a bonded pair, they have both proven to be independent little fellows who are very sociable Learn More >

Hound/Terrier mix, male, 3-4 years, ~30 lbs. Frankie was returned to Peppertree through no fault of his own. He is a very smart, medium to medium-high energy dog who loves to play. This sometimes leads to him getting over-excited, so we’d prefer to place him in a home with only older children who will understand and recognize when he needs a time-out. Frankie is great with other dogs. He is house-broken and crate trained, and enjoys riding in the car. He knows some basic commands and is working on nice leash manners when out walking. Frankie is shy in new situations, but with love and patience his foster mom is helping him work through that. When he settles in, he bonds strongly to his people and is very in tune to their moods. Frankie just LOVES to snuggle.

Juddy is 80 lbs of love. This is a sweet boy looking for a quiet home to spend his golden years. Even though he is a mature gentleman he still has energy and enthusiasm for life, and loves to run around in the back yard almost as much as napping at his owner’s feet. Juddy is looking for a new home because while he is good with children, too much activity and noise make him anxious. He would be fine with visiting children, or older children in a calm home, but he is a boy who prefers a schedule and some quiet times for naps and contemplation. He plays well with other dogs but would be just as happy as an only dog. He is fine with cats. Juddy is in good health and is working to lose a few pounds and get a bit more trim. He has good leash manners, and a couple of walks each day will help his waistline!
CHAUNCEY is an adorable dog who is doing well in his foster home. He loves his squeaky toys and loves to play fetch. He is working on housebreaking and crate-training, and is great on the leash. CHAUNCEY plays nicely with his foster mom and doesn’t mind when she takes a toy away from him. He seems to be good with most dogs, provided they have a proper introduction.
ALEA (Maggie Mae to her foster family) was a stray found in Brooklyn in 2013. We think she is a 7 year old Lab/Hound mix; we know she is a 60-pound bundle of love. She’s eager to be around people. She romps in the fenced yard with her four-legged foster brothers and chases birds, chickens, and the foster family’s cat. If you don’t have a fenced yard, she would love a daily run or walk. Her foster family has young children, and believes she’d be happiest living without kids under 10. With just a little love and attention, ALEA is a wonderful companion.
Henry is a very sweet laid back gentleman, and everyone who meets him thinks he’s a lot younger than 13 – he certainly doesn’t look or act that age! He enjoys a couple of walks a day. He came to us from a downstate shelter, having been surrendered by his elderly owner who was unable to care for him anymore. Henry likes other dogs a lot and wants to engage with them. He is housebroken and has excellent house manners. He is living with cats and is great with them. Henry is hard of hearing and stairs are difficult for him, so a house without a lot of steps would be ideal. He walks nicely on leash and responds to hand signals. He adores his foster mom and follows her everywhere, inside and out! He rides very well in the car. Overall, his foster mom says Henry’s manners are impeccable!

Riley is such a happy and friendly boy, and has truly never met a stranger! He came from a shelter in central NYS where he had been picked up as a stray. We don’t know how his back legs both became broken and were never taken care of as they should have been, but it certainly hasn’t dimmed his loving nature and zest for life. Riley lives in a home with another dog, a cat, and 4 young children, and does great with all. He is playful and wants to be part of any family activity. He is crate trained and making progress with housebreaking, although now that his pain is under control with medication, his excitement and impatience to be active sometimes get the better of his judgement! We’re sure that it won’t be long before he really “gets it”. To help aid his mobility, Riley is receiving a short term of hydrotherapy and other rehabilitative treatments, at Peppertree’s expense.
Glory originally came to us from a shelter in Georgia. She was adopted by a family but unfortunately was recently returned due to allergies in the home. GLORY is as sweet as her name – she loves all people, including little ones. On walks with her foster mom, she will gently steer her towards any person walking by. Glory gets on well with other dogs, although really she only has eyes for her people! She will be your constant shadow, but somehow never gets in the way. She doesn’t pester you for attention; it’s enough just to be in your presence. Glory is quiet in the home and only yodels when she is very excited. She loves car rides and really, just being with you! She is fine with cats. Glory is deaf but she doesn’t let this get in the way of being her cheerful self. Please consider making her a part of your family!
SPARKY is a good old boy who loves the simple things in life, like running, meeting new people (kids, too!) and the comforts of sharing home life with his family. He has been trained for bird hunting and would make a great weekend hunting partner, although he’s equally content to play in a fenced yard or run on leash alongside a bicycle. He has superb house manners, has lived with cats and loves to ride in the car. SPARKY is currently living with 3 other dogs in his foster home and interacts very appropriately with them, no need for crating. He is very much a family guy! Click here see a short clip of Sparky enjoying running alongside his foster mom on bike!
