Cocoabean – Adopted!

  • Chihuahua mix,
  • female,
  • 12 years,
  • 8 lbs.

Cocoabean is a sweetheart. Calm, except when you come home and then she is sooo excited to see you! Rolls over on her back for serious belly rubs. When she needs some attention she’ll nudge your hand for head pets. She bonded so easily and quickly.

Barking? Only when appropriate.
Cocoabean is living in a neighborhood with lots of barking dogs and she refuses to be riled up by all their nonsense. Great meeting new people and dogs both in and out of the house… though a knock on the door (in real life or TV!) can set her off, but she quickly calms down.

Separation anxiety? Nope.
She may want to go with you when you leave the house, but if she can’t, she is happy to nap on the couch while she waits for your return.

Potty-trained? 99%
Poor girl had a bladder stone removed and is making a remarkable recovery. Within two weeks she is now able to sleep through the night without having to be taken out. If she does need to go, she’ll let you know with a whine at the door. If you aren’t at home, Cocoabean uses a pee pad (though not her first choice). She has had occasional accidents, but she continues to heal and make huge progress!

Food? Loves it!
Cocoabean loves the special food she has to be on for her urinary tract health, and gets very excited at mealtimes. At dinner time she may beg, but when told, she goes to her bed to wait patiently for dinner to be over.

Exercise? Not so much.
She likes a brief walk around the block to do her business and get some fresh air, but mostly Cocoabean is a couch potato.
