Cottonelle, or Nellie as she likes to be called, has returned to us and is looking for another home. Nellie is polite with other dogs and likes to play, and has been appropriate and respectful with the dogs she has been around. But Nellie was returned because she was having issues with other dogs in the home, so, Nellie might do best as an only dog. Nellie however is great with cats, and even helped raise some rambunctious kittens when she was first with us. But people are what matters the most to Nellie – she is a true velcro dog who will make sure you never pee alone, and will never refuse an invitation to snuggle. Nellie has great house manners too, as long as you don’t mind her joining you on the couch. She does well in the crate, although if you are home and she is crated she will let you know she’d much rather be out with you. Nellie enjoys walks, and playing in the yard, but she is not a high energy dog. Nellie had knee surgery three years ago so while she is an active dog she is not a good candidate for a jogging companion or sport dog, and she should be kept on joint supplements. She needs to avoid becoming too heavy, but at a recent vet visit it was recommended that she gain a few pounds, as she is quite thin. At heart, Nellie is a companion dog, eager to be with you, snuggle with you, and will listen to you for hours no matter what you want to talk about. Nellie has not been left for a full work day in a long time and we are not sure how she would do with eight hours in a crate, so someone with a flexible or split schedule may be the best match for her.
