We’re not sure if we’re in love with Elvira because of her sweet and affectionate nature, her Cleopatra eye-liner, or her adorable ears, but we do know that she is a wonderful pup. We don’t know this stray’s back story, but her fantastic house manners indicate that she was someone’s beloved pet before ending up in a South Carolina shelter. Elvira is housebroken, crate-trained, and walks easily on a leash. She takes treats gently and is patient with bathing and grooming, though she is wiggly for her pedicures.
She loves to follow her humans around and greets people and other dogs enthusiastically. She shows keen interest in the doings of the house and yard, and loves to explore and sniff around on her walks. Elvira enjoys playing with balls, kongs and chew toys. She is a medium-energy dog, content to hang out in the same room as her humans on a dog bed or on the couch, though she is excited to go on walks and prances as soon as she spies her leash. Elvira’s friendly nature made her a shelter favorite and she was used to evaluate other dogs, but she is not good with cats. She doesn’t bark often, and only when strange cars or people approach her house.
We think Elvira would be a great fit for a socially active family or single person who wants a smart, cuddly, and confident companion who enjoys the company of other people and dogs. Having another canine buddy and fenced yard would be a plus for this good-natured girl.
