Do you like big dogs?  If so, you should check out Jaxson. We are not 100% sure what breeds give him his size and handsome looks but in a past life we think Jaxson might have been a bouncer – he likes to meet visitors at the gate and check their ID, and you’d better be on the list if you want to get in. No surprise Amazon deliveries with Jaxson watching your yard! But also no unnecessary barking, Jaxson typically only barks with a purpose. When not on the job Jaxson loves to follow his foster grandma around the house hoping for some ear rubs, play with his canine foster-siblings and destroy stuffed toys with a vengeance – not necessarily in that order. Jaxson really seems to enjoy the company of other dogs and has a goofy, playful side that makes his foster family laugh – a lot! Especially when he manages to catch a fly midair. With new people he can be a lot more cautious – he is not the one at the party handing out snacks and making small talk. He is more watching the room, making sure things are all under control. Sometimes we wonder if he is a Great Pyrenees in disguise!

Jaxson does best with a fenced yard, as he enjoys his time outdoors. Watching the birds, playing with the other dogs, going on walks – all are high on his list! But Jaxson also enjoys some snuggle time on the couch. He loves to binge a good show on Netflix but be warned – this big guy thinks he is a lap dog. Jaxson has good house manners, is doing well with his basic commands and leash walking and will agree to being crated as long as he has a peanut butter Kong to keep him company. He responds well with positive reinforcement and treats, and for all he thinks he is tough, he sometimes needs the security of his human to reassure him that he’s doing a good job and is safe. Having a confident canine friend can also help with that.

Jaxson prefers a home without cats; they are a bit too interesting and he wants to play with them, and a home without a lot of coming and going is best.  Due to his size and cautiousness with new people a home without small children is also best for this handsome fellow.
