In memory of our old sweet dog, Keeper. We rescued him at Peppertree on August 15, 2002. His name was Rush at the time – we renamed him Keeper. He was 10 1/2 months old at the time, and so, was 17 years and maybe 2 months old last week when we had to put him down.
Keeper was the best dog a human could own – funny, goofy, sweet, obedient and extremely loyal. He NEVER ran off at any time, and we have lived in our present home in the country on 2 acres- no fence- for 13+ years. There was never any need for a fence – all he wanted was to be with us, follow us around with a stick or a ball in his mouth. Keeper had a “brother from another mother” until 4 years ago. They were inseparable. They got along from the first second they saw each other. Sadly, that dog passed, and Keeper started going downhill. We got our little female border collie mix 4 years ago from a shelter in Walden, NY, and she perked him up, adding more years onto his life. I can’t say enough about this lovable, loyal dog, except that he is greatly missed and will be in our hearts forever.
He had the best life we could give him, and he gave us our best life. We’re still in mourning, but know it was the right thing to do at the right moment in time. Thank you for everything.
Sincerely,
Janice and Gary Mcclure
