Calling all hound lovers! Is Maverick a leggy beagle? Or is he a short hound? All we know is that he’s a total sweetheart! Maverick has great house manners, loves to snuggle near his foster family, including his canine foster brother, is always down for a car ride, and is quite spry for an older gentleman.

Maverick loves his walks and is always excited to put the leash on. While Maverick is dog social, he can spot a dog half a mile away, and whether it’s the beagle or hound ancestry – Maverick will sing the song of his people in an effort to say hello. Maverick would welcome sharing a home with another dog, but can be a bit socially awkward meeting new people and canine friends.

During the day, Maverick enjoys sniffing and sunbathing in the backyard and welcomes the occasional easy hike to dip his paws in the water. He sleeps through the night and wakes up whenever you’re ready to start your day (just make sure it starts with breakfast!). He would do best in a lightly active household with a fenced backyard.

Maverick has been learning about the crate. His vocalizations when left alone mean he is not made for apartment living or frequent comings and goings. While Maverick does not have destructive tendencies and can be crated/left alone for a few hours, a full work day would be tough for him. He settles nicely after some time alone.

Maverick has not been introduced to cats or kids.
