Calling all hound lovers! Is Maverick a leggy beagle? Or is he a short hound? All we know is that he’s a total sweetheart! Maverick has great house manners, loves to snuggle near his foster family, including his canine foster brother, is always down for a car ride, and is quite spry for an older gentleman.

Maverick loves his walks and is always excited to put the leash on. He enjoys sniffing and sunbathing in the backyard and welcomes the occasional easy hike to dip his paws in the water. He sleeps through the night and wakes up whenever you’re ready to start your day (just make sure it starts with breakfast!). He would do best in a lightly active household with a fenced backyard.

Maverick is comfortable with his crate and settles after just a few minutes when left alone. He can also be left uncrated without issue. Maverick can handle a full workday alone, but because he does vocalize when left by himself, he isn’t a good fit for an apartment. Maverick is good with kids. Cats are still an unknown.

We think Maverick would truly thrive in a home where he can be someone’s constant companion. We can easily picture him with a senior or someone who spends a lot of time at home—someone looking for a loyal buddy to share snacks, cuddle on the couch, and happily fill the house with a little extra personality. Maverick has also done wonderfully with children and other dogs, so he’d likely fit into many different family dynamics. More than anything, he’s looking for a home where he’ll be loved, included, and part of the daily routine.
