  • female,
  • 1-2 year,
  • 13 lbs.

Penelope, nicknamed Penny, is a little dog with big personality and an even bigger heart! She always wants to be close to her person. Whether it’s cuddling in their lap or playing fetch with toys, Penny loves her person! She has so much energy in her little body to work off and is ready to go again

after a quick nap. When it’s warm, Penny loves to go out for a walk and explore – so many new smells! Even though she’s small, you have to hold tight to her leash as she does have a prey drive and will run after any bunny or bird in sight. An adopter with a fenced-in yard will give sweet Penny a safe place to play and run after her shenanigans leave her people ready to rest! As a Southern pup, she’s still adjusting to the weather in New York. When she’s cold and it’s time to go back inside, she’ll let you know by insisting on being held. When inside and warm, she’s happy to play fetch or snuggle. Additionally, she’ll protect your home as the tiniest guard dog. Whenever there’s a knock at the door or someone walking by, Penny barks to alert you of the potential danger. However, any intimidation is quickly converted to excitement when she thinks that she’s made a new friend, and immediately demands to be pet!

Penny does well in the car. On longer car rides, she’s perfectly content curling up in her dog bed on the passenger seat. She’s house trained and will let you know if she has to go out. Penny is good with other dogs and loves to chase them at the dog park whenever she can. For having such little legs, she can run very fast! Overall, Penny is a super sweet, affectionate, active pup looking for her forever home. Because of her enthusiasm and tendency to jump on people, we’re looking for a home with older children.
