5 year old male Golden Retriever 100 lbs – Sparkie is a happy boy who has never met a stranger. He greets everyone happily, and enjoys walks in the neighborhood where all the neighbors tell him how sweet he is. Sparkie came to his family a bit overweight, but is slowly working that off and embracing a more active lifestyle. He still enjoys a snuggle on the couch though! Sparkie has excellent house manners, does not need a crate and is social with other dogs but has never lived with them, or cats – when he met a cat on his walk he tried to play bow, so, while we think he means well, he may try to play, or chase, and would need to meet any possible feline roommate. Sparkie does exhibit resource guarding, and needs to be managed with some toys, and high value items (he also really likes to steal socks) but if you ignore him or trade him for a treat he usually forgets what he was guarding and just wants to spend time with you. Often he ends up bringing the toy to you, hoping you will play with him. Because of this Sparkie does need to be in an adult only home, and may do best as an only dog.
