Meet Sport! Sport is a sweet, loving guy looking for his human best friend. Sit down on the ground and he’ll cuddle right up, resting his head on your shoulder for a hug. He’s eager to please, especially when treats are involved — he’ll even crawl into the bath when he hears the word “bath.” He doesn’t love baths, but he wants so badly to be a good boy. Sport is house trained and crate trained and has perfect house manners.
Sport will thrive in a home with another dog. He’s not picky — he loves all dogs of any shape or size and will whine if you don’t let him go make a new friend. He can also do great as a lone dog, as long as his family gives him a long walk plus playtime each day (or a fenced yard if playtime is limited). Frisbee is his favorite. He’s lived happily with a cat he loved to roughhouse with, and he’s great with kids of all ages, though he does best with kids over 6, since he likes his bed and crate to remain a safe space for him.
Sport is a border collie mix who loves a job and an active family. Snuffle balls, training, puzzles, pupsicles, agility, and dog-to-dog play are all great outlets for his body and mind. As a herding dog, he has an instinct to chase bikes, runners, and motorcycles, so he isn’t ready to be off-leash yet. His previous family made great progress teaching him “leave it,” and he’ll continue to thrive with a quieter, more rural environment to help that training stick.
Sport is up for adoption through no fault of his own: his family had to move to a city apartment for medical reasons, and the noise and stress were too much for him. He’s a dog who loves being outside, active, and social, and he’ll be a devoted best friend to anyone who spends time with him. The key to his heart is chest and belly rubs, and treats, of course!
